My dearest sweetheart sikar tevie,
Good evening, darling ! How have you been ? I miss you so much, dearest darling tevie ! I’m sorry that I don’t have enough time to write letters to you, darling. As you already knew, during this month I am so busy to prepare for my examination in university. Anyway, I could read your last letter on November 01, 2009 after recieving your sms. Sadly, I could not reply to you. You would wonder why on the head of the letter I dated November 14, 2009. Darling, actually, I posted this letter since November 07, 2009 but the post was not properly saved. What I wrote to you was deleted. My sweetheart tevie, I’m the luckiest man in the world to have you as my lover ! Not only this hard time that I can see your everything to me, but I found your deep love, wisdom, tolerance, kindness and care for me since the first day we met each other on the top of Angkor Wat temple ( 2005 ) in front of the Buddha statue under the falling rain. ( This picture is always in my memoir ). My princess tevie, I just want to remind you and also myself that we have each chosen our own path in our lives, yet our paths somehow or the other tend to meet again as time goes by. Because they never lose track of their origin. Over the years we’ve talked and laughed, listened and cried, supported and understood each other
like no one could. Even when we dont see eye to eye, I know you want the best for me, like I do for you. Darling, no matter what else happens in my life, no matter how many times I change my path or make right/wrong choices or decisions, I know you will always be there for me. Your love is a very special gift to me, it centers me, and takes me back to reality. In ways no one else could, it leads me forward. I am so glad that I have you in my life, my princess tevie! If i had to make a choice between a Million dollars and the Best Partner, I would choose Million dollars cos I already havee the Best Partner in the world ” You, my dearest sikar tevie !!! “
Darling tevie, thank you so much for sharing your opinion in your last letter dated on November 01, 2009. After reading your letter I could understand your wisdom and talence to analyse problems, especially, on the diplomatic dispute between our beloved kingdom Cambodia and Thailand. In this letter I’m going to share with you some opionion on a topic: ” Finding A Fair Compromise To Finish The Dispute Between Cambodia and Thailand “.
Firstly, we have to find out what is the real reasons behind the dispute between Cambodia and Thailand.
Not only russian newspapers, but also foriegn news agencies such as: CNN, BBC, New York Times, AFP… etc have focused on the dispute between the two countries. Anyway, the reason behind the dispute has not been mentioned clearly or incorrectly why there is such conflict has happened. Darling, I found that they ( foreign Mass Media) have mentioned only the middle part of the whole story ( By accusing Cambodian side that: The core of the dispute cause by the appointment of Thaksin Shinawatra, ousted prime minister of Thailand as advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia by Samdach Prime Minister Hun Sen ). As a matter of fact, the reasons behind the dispute follow 3 stages below :
1) Cambodia registered Preah Vihear Temple as a World Heritage Site
2) Political turmoil in Thailand ( Since the result of April’s general eclections were annulled, leaving Thailand without the working legislature). The People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) has turned the temple into a cause célèbre wedge issue in its battles against the People Power Party government of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej. Thai soldiers have been sent to invade territory around the Preah Vihear. According to the Franco-Siam boundary treaty of 1904 and 1907 and the verdict of ICJ in 1962, Cambodian Prime Minister Samadech Hun Sen called for the immediate withdrawal of Thai troops from the cambodian territory but Thailand have declined to withdraw. Thailand has claimed that the area 4.6 km2 belongs to its country.
3) More than one year of non-beneficial biliteral meeting with Thailand, Samdach Prime Minister Hun Sen have tried to find other methods to finish the dispute base on peaceful principles.(Prime Minister Hun Sen said at a gradation ceremony of a University in Phnom Penh that Cambodia will not use armed forces to deal border issues with Thailand. “Our policy does not need to use troops to deal the border matters and we need to deal border issues with peaceful deal). At the end, Samdach Prime Minister Hun Sen have made a risky decision ( I think that the government of Cambodia may have no options when the invasion was initially provoked by Thailand. How would you react if you were a leader of one country, while your country is invaded ? Considerably noticed, the appointment of Thaksin will not help rescue the situation and reach the solution, but it sometimes shows our reaction ) by supporting ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra hoping that Thailand would change its stance on the dispute with Cambodia. On the contrary, responding to the decision made by Cambodian Prime Minister, Thailand under the ruling of Abhisit Vejjajiva, who got power by military coup has over-reacted to Cambodia. Thai government called ambassador to Cambodia back to Thailand. The situation is reaching the cross-road.
Secondly, what we do next ?
For my point of view, the next step to reduce the tension, Cambodia and Thailand have to change its foriegn policies by practicing the principle: Changing the Win-Lose to Win-Win policy.
“The wise one will be the leader who backs down. He won’t be a coward but he will save lives, save the economy and be the one that people will ultimately respect”.
Thirdly, dearest darling, Now let’s we think together: What Cambodia needs from Thailand? and What Thailand needs from Cambodia?
1st question: What Cambodia needs from Thailand ?
The most easiest answer: Just withdraw thai troops from the territory of Cambodia ( Restore status quo situation before August 15, 2008 ).
2nd question: What Thailand needs from Cambodia ?
a) Territory 4.6km2 around Preah Vihear temples.
b) Reconsideration on registration Preah Vihear temple as World Heritage
c) Extradition ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to Thailand.
d) Prime Minister Hun Sen have to apologize thai government, thai people and thai judicial system for his insulting statement.
Resolutions:
The 1st question: Do not overreact to Thailand or inflame the nationalism. Respect the charter of ASEAN and principles Pancha Sila.
Points a and b of 2nd question: Thailand should study the right history of the country.
Point c Thailand should solve its problems by respecting the integrity and sovereignty of other countries.
Point d it is a tit- for-tat. ( Darling, you may remember the phrase of Thai foreign minister Kasit Piromya alleged PM Hun Sen : Gentleman who has the heart of a gangster).
For my point of view, now the situation of the dispute is worser and worser. This is the good opportunity for ASEAN to plays the important role to end the dispute between the two countries.
My comment and request on behalf khmer and thai peoples who want to live in peace and harmony:
Dearest darling, I hoped the world had grown up over the last 55 years after the end of World War II but Buddha it seems people have learnt nothing and act like arguing children. War ruins countries, lives and takes generations to get over. There will be no winners for Cambodia and Thailand only losers. This is a conflict nobody needs and it will not get anyone anywhere. Just sadness, economic disaster and misery for the poor people of both countries. I only hope the leaders have the intelligence to realise this: Please do not take people as your political game! The wise one will be the leader who backs down. He won’t be a coward but he will save lives, save the economy and be the one that people will ultimately respect. My heart goes out to Khmer people and Thai people. Nobody should suffer. I hope Win-Win negotiation in arena of ASEAN meeting can resolve this conflict.
I wish thai leaders understand what Thaksin suggested during his conference in Phnom Penh: ” A prosperous neighbour means better opportunities for us to grow together,”
And I wish Thai people understand what their former prime minister advises: “Of course, not all my compatriots see it that way right now. Their domestic political compulsions force them to false patriotism. Let’s pray that they too will one day appreciate this partnership for progress.”
tevie,my beloved ! I’m so proud of His Excellency Sam Rainsy replied to Thai government on Friday, November 07, 2009 that:
“It would never cross my mind to serve a foreign government that is at odds with my own country. All my time and resources are, and will be, exclusively devoted to serving and defending my sacred motherland Cambodia,”
Yeah, is time for all khmer to consolidate!
Darling, I finish my letter here. Remember that, Without you I don’t know how/where to start my life. You complete my life! I need you, dearest darling.
I take this quote below to finish my letter:
I already love in you your beauty, but I am only beginning to love in you that which is eternal and ever precious – your heart, your soul. Beauty one could get to know and fall in love with in one hour and cease to love it as speedily but the soul one must learn to know. Believe me, nothing on earth is given without labor, even love, the most beautiful and natural of feelings.- Leo Tolstoy, Russian to Valeria Arsenev
Forever your,
heng krishna
P.S. Dearest darling, Pls help me to find resolutions to finish the dispute between Cambodia and Thailand in your next letter.
